WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Three seminarians of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Worcester are taking a step closer to the priesthood.

The three men will be elevated to the transitional diaconate Saturday during a ceremony at St. Paul Cathedral.

The Telegram & Gazette (https://bit.ly/1zcwafd ) reports that all three are in their fourth year of theology at St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, and transitional diaconate is the final stage of preparation for ordination to the priesthood.

Bishop Robert McManus will preside over the ordination.

The seminarians are: David Escudero Munoz, Mateus Monteiro De Souza and Carlos Andres Ruiz Vasquez. They all studied previously at Clark University’s American Culture and Language Institute while in residence at the Holy Name of Jesus House of Studies in Worcester.
