AKRON, Ohio (AP) - B.J. Gladden made his first start a memorable one: opening with two dunks, one off a steal and a half-court sprint to the rim, to finish with 11 points as Akron romped past Division III Bluffton 92-53 Saturday night.

The back-to-back dunks by Gladden, a redshirt freshman, propelled the Zips (7-4) to an 8-0 start and they never looked back. Gladden hadn’t scored more than four points in a game previously. Pat Forsythe scored 14 points and Nyles Evans 11 for Akron, which emptied its bench as 13 of 14 players scored.

The Akron bench outscored Bluffton’s 48-10.

Akron made 37 of 66 field goals, including eight 3-pointers. The Zips forced 28 turnovers and had 17 steals - Forsythe and Noah Robotham with four each.

Thayne Recker led the Beavers (4-4) with 16 points and seven rebounds but had five points and three boards after halftime.
