DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The list of candidates to be the next Des Moines police chief has been narrowed to eight.

A report submitted by the Des Moines Civil Service Commission for Monday’s City Council meeting reveals the candidates.

They are: Allan Tunks, Michael Davis, Stephen Waymire, Donnie Perry, Dana Wingert, Dennis Weiner, John Powell and Al Pizzano.

Tunks, Waymire and Wingert are all currently serving in the Des Moines Police Department ranks. The others hail from other agencies. Officials have not yet released biographical information on the candidates.

Former Des Moines Police Chief Judy Bradshaw retired in October and is now assistant director of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

The Des Moines City Council is set to approve the list of candidates at a meeting Monday night.
