FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say Highway 101 on the Oregon coast is closed just north of Heceta Head.

The closure is due to a retaining wall at the site of an active slide that’s showing signs of compromise due to heavy rainfall.

The highway will be closed until geotechnical experts can assess the situation.

Northbound traffic will be turned around at Sea Lion Caves. Southbound traffic will be turned around near Heceta Head.
