PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a jitney bus driver in Paterson has been beaten and robbed after stopping to check for damage when a group of men threw bottles at his vehicle.

The Record reports (https://bit.ly/1HgynFO ) that the 33-year-old driver was attacked around 11:30 p.m. Friday at Main Street and Montclair Avenue.

Sgt. Ron Van Wolde says that two or three men threw bottles at the 25-passenger bus and then a group of five punched and kicked him and stole his wallet.

The victim was treated and released from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for a cut and bruising. No arrests have been made.
