NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Damon Lynn had 16 points with six assists, Winfield Willis added 14 points and New Jersey Institute of Technology defeated Central Connecticut State 84-76 on Saturday night.

The Highlanders (5-7) shot 53.4 percent from the field, with Lynn hitting 5 of NJIT’s 10 3-pointers. Daquan Holiday chipped in 13 points and Ky Howard had 12 with five assists.

CCSU (2-8) was held to 42.1-percent shooting and went 2 of 12 from deep. Matt Mobley paced the Blue Devils with 27 points, Khalen Cumberlander added 18 and Faronte Drakeford 13.

NJIT used a late push in the first half to grab a 45-38 halftime advantage. Lynn hit a trio of 3-pointers to spark a 16-7 run that put the Highlanders up 15 with 12:07 remaining.

CCSU climbed back within four on Drakeford’s layup at the 4:16 mark, but Howard answered with a layup and four straight free throws to seal it.
