LANDER, Wyo. (AP) - A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the murder of another man who was beaten to death with a claw hammer.

The Riverton Ranger reports https://bit.ly/1wWWTJj ) that George Littlethunder III entered an “Alford plea” on Thursday. That means he denies guilt, but admits he would be convicted at trial.

Littlethunder faces a sentence of 50 to 80 years in prison under an agreement with prosecutors. Second-degree murder can carry a penalty of up to life in prison.

Littlethunder is one of three defendants originally charged in the March 2013 death of Richard Longsoldier.

Delight Estelle Sunrhodes has pleaded guilty to being accessory before the fact to second-degree murder. Prosecutors intend to recommend she get 20 to 25 years in prison.

Charges against another defendant were dropped in October.
