OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Authorities say a woman who lived for several months in tents with her seven children in a wooded area of Pushmataha County has been arrested on complaints of child neglect.

The Oklahoman reports (https://bit.ly/13no6u0 ) that 34-year-old Sonia Kubisak was arrested in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, on Thursday. She was also charged in Pushmataha County District Court with seven counts of felony child abuse.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says agents determined that Kubisak was living with her seven children, ages 7 to 17, in a wooded area from March 1 to Aug. 1.

A local nurse practitioner who assessed the children diagnosed them with multiple illnesses associated with neglect and malnutrition, prompting notification of the state Department of Human Services. The children have been taken into protective custody.
