PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A team from Riggs High School in Pierre has won the Knowledge Bowl at the Lakota National Invitational.

KCCR-AM reports that the four-person team won the competition this week in Rapid City. The students’ skills were tested in a variety of academic subjects during the event.

The Lakota National Invitational is part basketball tournament, part academic challenge and part family reunion for tribal members.

Riggs’ team members are Emily Plummage, Hayley Sherwood, Teyah Long Fox and Miranda Rockwood.

Coaches are Donna Shoup, Tristan Rogers and Anita Matthews.
