CAMAS, Wash. (AP) - Police in the southwest Washington city of Camas say they’ve arrested a high school assistant softball coach accused of inappropriately touching 17 female students.

Sgt. Scot Boyles says 58-year-old Robbyn D. Mattson of Camas is also a custodian at Camas High School.

Boyles says the investigation showed the man had touched the students during school hours in the past month. The reported victims are 14 to 18 years old. Investigators watched surveillance video as well as conducting interviews.

Mattson was arrested Friday for investigation of eight counts of third-degree child molestation, five counts of second-degree sexual misconduct and four counts of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation. He was shown on the Clark County Jail roster Friday night. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.

The Columbian reports (https://is.gd/6g7Szk ) that school district officials went to police this week after hearing the allegations. Mattson was placed on administrative leave.
