BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - More homeowners in Big Sky are receiving bear-proof garbage containers.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1AvtUPj ) that 325 homes in Big Sky have received the bear-proof trash containers so far. The latest delivery means about 60 percent of residences have received them.

The containers are coming thanks to homeowners associations, a sanitation company and the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Kris Inman is a scientist with the conservation society. Inman says the group wants to get all residences in the area supplied with the trash containers.

Black bears have always wandered through Big Sky and the surrounding area. In recent years, they’ve been joined by grizzly bears as the grizzly bear population in Yellowstone National Park has grown and expanded.
