BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Boulder dog owners are getting ready for new leash laws going into effect Jan. 1 that require dogs to be trained and wear a tag before being allowed to run free on open space trails.

Open space rangers say they will be on trails making sure that dogs off leash have a new blue tag to show that their owners are in compliance.

The Boulder City Council adopted new requirements for dogs to get regular training following complaints about dogs chasing wildlife and not responding to commands.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera (https://tinyurl.com/nzsuux5), dog owners have to take a class with their dogs and renew the tags annually.
