GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Greensboro police say a man banned from Wesley Long Hospital has died after being arrested.

Authorities say in a news release that 60-year-old Steve Christian came to the emergency room just after 1 a.m. Sunday. Officials say he was escorted out of the building after becoming combative toward medical staff.

An officer cited Williams for disorderly conduct and ordered him to leave. Police say Christian came back to the hospital and became unresponsive after an officer put him in handcuffs. He was pronounced dead at around 3:30 a.m.

Greensboro police have asked for assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation. As is protocol, the officer has been placed on leave.
