RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Wake County’s chief prosecutor says he doesn’t anticipate bringing charges against a man who was shot by a Raleigh police officer.

District Attorney Ned Mangum told local media outlets on Friday that the case is still under investigation.

Authorities say Officer S.C. Nziuki shot 33-year-old Marcel Leroy Jordan in the torso on Wednesday while she was responding to a 911 call about a patient attacking an employee at a mental-health counseling center.

Jordan was in critical condition at a hospital on Friday. Police have not said what led to the shooting.

The State Bureau of Investigation and the Raleigh Police Department’s internal affairs unit is examining the shooting, a customary procedure following a shooting involving a police officer.
