GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a van and an SUV collided in northern Michigan, causing the van to catch fire and killing its driver.

Clare County Sheriff John S. Wilson says emergency crews airlifted the other driver to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Wilson says the crash happened about 5:45 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Township. It’s in the northern Lower Peninsula, about 25 miles north of Mount Pleasant.

The sheriff says that 53-year-old Sidney Curns of Harrison was trapped in the burning van and died.

Wilson says that 53-year-old Richard Randall of Harrison was driving the SUV. Munson Medical Center said Sunday that it couldn’t provide any information on his condition.
