BOSTON (AP) - Boston police say an officer fired three shots at a man during a confrontation.

No injuries were reported in the incident Sunday night in the Dorchester neighborhood, and the unidentified suspect remains at large.

Police Commissioner William Evans said Monday the officer came across a masked man who was acting suspiciously on Talbot Street. He said the suspect began to run away, but then turned and pointed a gun at the officer.

The commissioner said the officer, whose name was not released, then fired three shots at the man.

Police later recovered a .22-caliber gun that was apparently discarded by the suspect. Police said the gun had not been fired.
