CINCINNATI (AP) - A suspended juvenile court judge sentenced to jail on a felony will begin serving time this month under an appeals court ruling.

The 1st Ohio District Court of Appeals in Cincinnati on Monday overruled Tracie Hunter’s motion for release on bail and suspension of the execution of her six-month sentence while she appeals her conviction and sentence.

Hunter was convicted of unlawful interest in a public contract. The Hamilton County trial judge ordered her to begin her sentence Dec. 29.

Hunter had argued that she has a strong likelihood of winning an appeal of her conviction and has serious health issues. Her motion also argued she would need to be segregated from other inmates because of her high-profile position.

Her attorney did not immediately return a call for comment Monday.
