MILWAUKEE (AP) - Several dozen protesters are taking to the streets of Milwaukee to demand justice for Dontre Hamilton.

Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm said Monday that former Officer Christopher Manney won’t be charged in Hamilton’s death because he shot the mentally ill man in self-defense. Hamilton died last April, after Manney shot him 14 times.

Protesters marched through downtown Milwaukee on Monday afternoon.

They were chanting “Who’s streets? Our streets,” and “Arrest the police.”

Manney is at least the third white police officer to avoid charges in the past month after a confrontation that led to a black man’s death.
