MILWAUKEE (AP) - The brother of a black man killed by a white Milwaukee police officer is angry over a prosecutor’s decision not to bring charges against the officer.
Dontre (DON’-tray) Hamilton was shot in a downtown park last April after he struggled with an officer who was sent to check on his welfare. Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced Monday that Officer Christopher Manney was justified in using deadly force.
At a news conference, Hamilton’s brother Nate said Manney killed his brother “with hate.” He called on people to come stand with his family “so we can get rid of these pigs that kill us.”
Attorneys for the Hamilton family urged peaceful demonstrations in the wake of the charging decision.
