ESSEX, Conn. (AP) - A Chester volunteer firefighter has been killed in a crash involving a street-sweeper in Essex.

State police tell WFSB-TV (https://bit.ly/1iuclr7 ) that the car slammed into a town of Essex street sweeper at about 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say the sweeper was heading south on Route 154 and the car was traveling north when it crossed into the southbound lane.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

No other details, including the identity of the firefighter, were immediately available Monday.
