SANDERSVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A Jones County man is facing animal cruelty charges after 10 dogs were found allegedly living in poor condition on his property.

WDAM-TV (https://bit.ly/1GKOsoM) reports that Zavier Arrington of Sandersville was charged Friday with 10 counts of animal cruelty and neglect.

The charges came after an animal welfare group, Southern Cross Animal Rescue, was called about a dog chained in a front yard with no shelter, food or water. When workers arrived, they found a total of nine pit bills and one Chihuahua living in poor conditions.

Heather Williams, the group’s president, says a warrant was issued to seize the dogs, which all needed medical care.
