BERNE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have shuttered the upstate New York mobile home where police say a 5-year-old boy was bludgeoned and strangled by his teenage cousin.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple tells local media that the home where Kenneth White was killed last Thursday had several code violations, including a floor that was in danger of collapsing.

Kenneth lived in the home in the rural town of Berne with his twin sister, a 4-year-old sister, his aunt and his 19-year-old cousin, Tiffany VanAlstyne.

Police say she killed the boy last Thursday afternoon, then called 911 and claimed two men in ski masks had abducted the boy from the home.

A search was a launched, and a police K-9 unit found his body in a snowy culvert across the road from the home.

VanAlstyne was charged Friday with second-degree murder.
