NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Norfolk man’s journey in a dinghy has set a world record.

Guinness Book of World Records’ website says Robert Suhay sailed 283.5 nautical miles, or 326.24 miles, on July 2. That’s the longest single-handed distance sailed in a dinghy by a male.

WAVY-TV (https://bit.ly/1xEtbM6 ) reports that the 51-year-old Suhay battled Hurricane Arthur as he traveled up the Chesapeake Bay to Maryland. He received a certificate from Guinness earlier this month.
