NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Police are trying to find a hit-and-run motorist after a 64-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a busy North Las Vegas street with his 4-year-old grandson.

North Las Vegas police Officer Steven Wiese says the child escaped serious injury but the man died after the crash just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday at East Cheyenne Avenue and North Carroll Street.

Wiese says police are looking for the driver and a red Toyota sedan that may have front-end damage.

Investigators say the man and child weren’t in a crosswalk when they were struck by the car driving east on Cheyenne Avenue.

The crash bore eerie similarities to a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 63-year-old man pushing a stroller several days before Thanksgiving in southwest Las Vegas.
