PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police say a man who was injured in a fire in Pawtucket has died.

The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1Cp6fSF ) reports police identified the victim as 62-year-old Robert Iiams.

The fire started in a first floor apartment at 31 Grove St. around 2 p.m. Sunday. Fire officials say the fire was quickly contained. Iiams was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Maj. Arthur Martins says he thinks Iiams died of smoke inhalation.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating and says the fire may have started in the kitchen.

An apartment on the second floor of the six-unit apartment house also suffered smoke damage.
