ATLANTA (AP) - Federal prosecutors say the former owner of a metro Atlanta clinic has been sentenced in a health care fraud scheme.

Officials say Shinkweon Park owned the LOMA Clinic in Norcross and submitted false claims for various medical visits to Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield. U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a statement that Park filed more for more than $2 million in fraudulent claims.

Authorities say Park submitted claims for acupuncture treatments that weren’t reimbursable by Medicare. Prosecutors say Park also billed for massage and physical therapy that wasn’t performed by licenses practitioners, and billed Medicare for office visits with a doctor who never examined or treated patients.

Park of Suwanee has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison.
