DENTON, Texas (AP) - Police say weekend gunfire in a North Texas apartment that left two dead and injured two was the result of a home invasion robbery.

Denton police spokesman Orlando Hinojosa said Monday three men forced their way into the apartment.

One suspect was shot and killed inside the apartment and another was shot and killed outside one of the apartment complex buildings.

Two handguns were recovered inside the apartment, with one belonging to a victim and one belonging to a suspect. Hinojosa says investigators are still trying to determine who shot who.

Neither the suspects nor the victims in the robbery have been identified.

The third suspect fled the scene. It’s unclear if he was injured. The two male victims were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
