BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) - A 60-year-old man has pleaded guilty to stabbing his wife to death in the couple’s Thornton home.

The Adams County District Attorney’s Office says David Pineda struck a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder in the May 27 death of 47-year-old Isabel Pineda. He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 19.

David Pineda, who is expected to get between 30 and 48 years in prison, was initially charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators believe the couple were involved in a fight before the stabbing.
