SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A car collided with a TRAX light train in south-central Salt Lake City, injuring a woman and causing a chain-reaction crash with two other vehicles that snarled traffic during the morning commute.

Police say the accident about 6:41 a.m. Monday, shutting down the light rail route for about an hour in the area of 200 W. 800 South.

Police Lt. Mike Ross said the accident began when a black Hyundai ran a red light and was struck by the train. The Hyundai then spun into another vehicle that had stopped for the light, then slammed into a nearby parked car.

The driver of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries and initially declined to be taken to the hospital but later agreed as a precaution.

No other injuries were reported.
