PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police say a woman has died after the car she was driving hit a tractor-trailer on Plainfield Pike.

The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1CpNgrf ) reports Johnston police say 71-year-old Dorothea Beaumier was pronounced dead after being taken to Rhode Island Hospital following the accident early Monday.

Police say Beaumier’s 2002 Mercury sedan hit the rear tires and undercarriage of the tractor-trailer that was leaving Constantini Bros. Transport on Plainfield Pike.

A section of the pike was closed as police investigated. The cause remains under investigation.
