STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police say they broke up a sexual assault of a severely intoxicated woman by two Stamford men.

The Stamford Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1wCFOWp ) that Ruben Enio Sandoval and Augusto Carreras were arrested on sexual assault, unlawful restraint and conspiracy charges. Police say they received a report the two men were dragging a woman into Carreras’s apartment Saturday.

Court documents say an officer saw Sandoval having sex with the woman who passed out on a mattress.

The 35-year-old Sandoval and 53-year-old Carreras pleaded not guilty Monday in Stamford Superior Court.

Prosecutors say the allegations are shocking and are supported by the officer’s account and surveillance video.

A public defender said both men would be appointed outside lawyers because the Office of the Public Defender has an unspecified conflict representing the men.
