CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - Cedar Falls police have arrested a man after a standoff at his home that lasted for several hours.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/13X3nhN ) police were called to a home about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday after residents reported someone had threatened them with a knife.

Police cleared others from the home but one resident barricaded himself in a bedroom. As a precaution, police also evacuated a neighboring house.

Officers from a special tactical unit entered the home about 4:30 a.m. and arrested the man.

Police charged 45-year-old Donald Lynn Cary with assault while displaying a weapon and first-degree harassment. He was held in the Black Hawk County Jail.

Online records didn’t indicate whether Cary has an attorney.
