OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Police are continuing to investigate a weekend shooting in which a would-be burglar was fatally wounded by a homeowner in northwest Oklahoma City.

Investigators have identified the homeowner as 48-year-old Tom Vineyard, pastor of the Windsor Hills Baptist Church. The victim of the shooting has been described by police as a “black male” and no other information concerning his identity has been released.

No charges have been filed in the case. Oklahoma City police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow says investigators will conduct a thorough investigation and present their findings to the district attorney.

The shooting was reported to police about 3:15 p.m. Saturday. The homeowner’s son told police his father shot someone who had broken into their home. Police say the suspect died as he tried to leave the home.
