DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa mom and dad are celebrating an early Christmas with the early arrival of their baby girl, who was born in dad’s work van on their way to a Des Moines hospital.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1x6vrZL ) that little Arielle Rose Thurman was born Friday afternoon somewhere between the Mitchellville home of Jessika and Danny Thurman and Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Jessika Thurman says she awoke from a nap with contractions and hustled out into the van so her husband could drive her to the hospital. But Arielle, who was due Monday, arrived within 20 minutes.

After making arrangements with a 911 dispatcher, Danny Thurman pulled off Interstate 80 at the Altoona and Bondurant exit and met ambulance medics at a nearby convenience store.
