NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man shot last month by a Newark police officer is facing charges connected to the shooting.

An Essex County official says Ibn Coates has been charged with resisting arrest, making terroristic threats and possession of marijuana and of a loaded gun.

NJ.com (https://bit.ly/1CEbyuI ) says Coates was moved to county jail from a hospital and is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Police tried to stop Coates about 10 p.m. on Nov. 20, but he jumped into a taxi. Police pulled the cab over and Coates tried to flee but was shot once by an officer.
