SOAP LAKE, Wash. (AP) - The Grant County sheriff’s office says a man has been wounded in a shooting just outside the central Washington city of Soap Lake.

Sheriff’s spokesman Kyle Foreman says a man in his 70s suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen Tuesday afternoon. The man was reported awake and talking when he was flown to a Wenatchee hospital. His condition is not known.

Sheriff’s detectives were interviewing the man’s wife, who is also in her 70s. Foreman says no one else was in the home at the time of the shooting.

The sheriff’s office did not immediately identify the man.
