WARSAW, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York couple has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from their 15-year-old daughter’s death earlier this year.

Local media report that Jeremy Ikeler of Castile (KAS’-teyl) pleaded guilty Monday in Wyoming County Court to criminally negligent homicide. His wife Astrid pleaded guilty to attempted criminally negligent homicide.

The Ikelers were charged in August after a medical examiner ruled the death of their daughter Marissa was a homicide caused by the parents’ failure to provide care for a medical condition she suffered.

The teen died at a Buffalo hospital on Jan. 27, a day after deputies were called to her home when she suffered a seizure and stopped breathing. Authorities concluded that she wasn’t receiving proper care or medication for an existing condition.

Both Ikelers are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 5.
