WAUWATOSA, Wis. (AP) - Dozens of protesters held a brief “die-in” at a suburban Milwaukee shopping mall to demand justice for a black man shot and killed by a white police officer in a Milwaukee park.

They gathered in the center court at the Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa around 4:30 p.m., chanting “Justice for Dontre.” The protest lasted about 15 minutes.

It was one of several protests in the Milwaukee area since Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced Monday that former officer Christopher Manney would face no criminal charges in 31-year-old Dontre Hamilton’s death.

The city of Wauwatosa issued a statement saying the mall protesters read a statement, chanted for several minutes and left peacefully.

Mayfair Mall remained open, though some stores closed briefly, and was busy with holiday shoppers after the protest.
