LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A $3 million gift from the Conway Corporation will help the University of Central Arkansas expand its Lewis Science Center.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1zQZe9U ) that the operator of Conway’s city-owned utility system will donate about $600,000 a year over five years for the project, beginning in 2016.

UCA President Tom Courtway says the gift is one of the most significant developments in the history of the university. Courtway says the money will enhance Lewis Science Center and help provide state-of-the-art laboratories and scientific facilities for students.

The Lewis Science Center expansion includes a 50,000 square-foot addition for teaching and laboratory space, as well as features that will allow improvement in equipment and energy efficiency.
