PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in north-central Arizona have released the name of a woman killed in hit-and-run accident near the Prescott Country Club.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say 70-year-old Joyce Erickson was a resident of the country club.

Deputies were called to the scene about 6:30 a.m. Monday after a dead body was discovered in the roadway near the country club.

They believe Erickson had been hit by a vehicle.

Luggage belonging to Erickson was found near her body and investigators say it appears she was heading to the Maverick Country Store on Highway 69 to catch shuttle transportation.

Authorities still are trying to locate any possible witnesses to the fatal hit-and-run and any information on the vehicle and driver involved.
