HANOVER, Va. (AP) - Police are investigating a three-vehicle accident in Hanover that killed one person and injured eight others, including five children.

The Hanover Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that a southbound car crossed into the northbound lane and hit a van. The car was then hit by a second northbound van. The accident occurred around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday on Hanover Courthouse Road.

The sheriff’s office said Wednesday that the car’s driver, 68-year-old Alexander Keel of Richmond, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two adults and three children in one van and one adult and two children in the other van were taken to VCU Medical Center. The sheriff’s office says none of the injuries appear life threatening.
