BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (AP) - The Suffolk County SPCA has offered $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person who left a dog to die on Long Island.

The SPCA said Wednesday that the Silky/Yorkie Terrier-type dog was found near death in a cage on the side of Candlewood Road in Brentwood on Sunday. The organization said the 4.6-pound dog was emaciated with open sores on its body and was covered in feces and urine.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. The SPCA promised that calls would be kept confidential.
