FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - A 98-year-old woman who was the oldest employee of the Publix grocery store chain has died.

The Fort Myers News-Press (https://newspr.es/1B1vjeA ) reports that Grace Carey died Dec. 15 after she drove home following her regular store shift and sat relaxing in her favorite chair.

A Publix spokesman said Carey started working for the store when she was 78. She was well-known at the Colonial Crossing Publix, loading groceries in cars and many customers made sure they came on the Monday, Wednesday or Friday shifts she always worked.
