HAMPSTEAD, N.H. (AP) - Home for the holidays, a New Hampshire man who finished third on “American Idol” sang and shared some songwriting tips with Hampstead Middle School students.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1wF65DD) that the school’s choir director invited Alex Preston to visit the school Tuesday. He sang a duet with eighth-grader Katie Martin and took questions from the student body at an afternoon assembly.

Preston, who recently finished a 40-concert tour, is moving to Nashville in the new year. He is from Mont Vernon.
