HERMONSA, Colo. (AP) - A southwest Colorado man has been fined for siccing his dog on three deer earlier this month

Jerry Zelenka paid $276.50 for a harassing wildlife. A witness saw Zelenka raise the lowest strand of a barbed wire fence and release his dog, with shout of encouragement, to chase three grazing does nearby. The deer panicked, and one was injured.

The Durango Herald reports Wednesday (https://bit.ly/1A5HWqS) that the deer incident wasn’t Zelenka’s first wildlife offense fined by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

In 2011, Zelenka paid a $70 fine for shooting a great blue heron, a species protected by the state and federal governments.
