DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says with the 2014 deer hunting season nearly over, hunters are on pace to kill about 100,000 deer.

That’s a similar number as last year.

The final opportunity to hunt this year is the late muzzleloader season, which started Monday and concludes Jan. 10, 2015. During this period, hunters can use a crossbow, regular bow, muzzleloader or handgun.
