GREENFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Greenfield man is facing drug trafficking charges after police pulled over a speeding car.

Nathan Rondeau, who is unemployed and lives in low-income housing, according to court records, was ordered held on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty Tuesday to heroin trafficking charges.

Police say the 35-year-old Rondeau was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for speeding early Tuesday. Police say he was in possession of nearly 300 bags of heroin and almost $650 in cash when he was arrested.

Authorities say Rondeau’s girlfriend will be summoned to court to face a witness intimidation charge for allegedly threatening another passenger in the car she believes “ratted out” Rondeau.

The driver and the other passenger were not arrested.
