GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Hall County say an inmate accused of walking away from a work detail assignment has been captured.

Hall County Correctional Institute Warden Walt Davis tells The Times of Gainesville (https://bit.ly/1x4qB0d) that 35-year-old Derrick Crawford was apprehended Tuesday night. Davis said he was taken into custody outside his girlfriend’s home by a fugitive squad in DeKalb County.

Authorities said Crawford had walked away from his work detail crew near Georgia 60 and Hubert Stephens Road around 12:15 p.m. Monday. He had been sentenced to 20 years in state prison on cocaine trafficking charges.
