BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials say a 31-year-old woman died a week after being taken to a hospital to have a crack pipe removed from her body.

The Ledger of Lakeland (https://bit.ly/1vbcT6q ) reports April Rollison was arrested on drug charges Dec. 16. During a body scan at the Polk County Jail, deputies spotted two items inside her vagina.

They took her to the hospital. While a nurse was getting a bedpan for her, officials believe Rollison removed a prescription bottle from her vagina and ingested some of the crack rocks inside.

The medical staff removed the crack pipe. She was taken back to jail, where she went into distress. She was taken back to the hospital where she died on Monday.

An autopsy will be conducted. The state attorney’s office is investigating.
