LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock police say a device that a man found in a bag in his driveway appears to be an improvised explosive device that failed to go off.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Wednesday that officials described the device as a “crude” item resembling a small appliance. A label on the bag said it was intended for the man.

His home’s circuit breaker tripped when the device was plugged in. The man then took it to the dairy where he works.

The fire department sent crews to the dairy. Capt. Jason Weaver said the device was stable and employees are not in danger. The item will be turned over to federal investigators.

Weaver told the paper Wednesday it appeared to be genuine, but added that an investigation could reveal a hoax.
